Pythagorean Yardage: A New Way to Evaluate CFB Teams
You’ve probably seen ESPN NY radio host Don La Greca’s rant against the use of the Pythagorean theorem in football. If you haven’t, you can watch it here. It’s highly amusing, especially considering that no one uses the Pythagorean theorem in football — most football players today learned it back in middle school (or at their senior year at UNC), and have never used it since. What La Greca might be trying to rant about is Pythagorean expectation: a formula used to predict a team’s win percentage based on point differentials. La Greca’s rant got me thinking — could we use Pythagorean expectation in football? And how can we apply it?

Marvel Drops Second Trailer For 'Black Panther'
Marvel Studios surprised fans with the release of the official trailer for Black Panther. The Ryan Coogler-directed film is set to hit theaters February 9, yet fans were granted a taste of the epic battle between the Wakanda King T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and the potential usurper to the Wakandan throne Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan).

Dusty Baker: Forever Cursed. Top Story - October 2017.
The Nationals lost one of the most gut-wrenching games in recent playoff history (or at least it must feel that way). In what was becoming something to celebrate after another miraculous Michael A. Taylor homer was gutted by seeing Max Scherzer get beat by bloop singles. What was built up in that eighth inning rally was ripped away by Jose Lobaton getting his cleat awkwardly caught in first base leaving millimeters of space.
