What am I supposed to do?
I've called.
Protested.
Mailed.
Swore.
Prayed.
Shared.
Spoke truth.
Exhorted.
Cried.
Screamed.
Voted.
Posted.
Spoke.
Explained.
Tonight; do I sit by the clock
and count the minutes
before he commits genocide?
Watch the sky for retribution?
Look at the seeds waiting for warmer days
and apologize for the swooning
moment of optimism
that carried me through their purchase?
I think I need to
apologize
to the world.
Women have been apologizing
for the actions of violent angry men
since
forever.
Why stop now?
Why won't he just. stop. now?
