Passion for Forensics
For me, it’s been another day of job searching, taking the dogs for a walk, cleaning the cat’s litter box, making my lunch and leaving my dirty dishes in the sink – normally I’m pretty good about cleaning up after myself, but today I was distracted.

A secret the story holds
The little black notebook. The dark gold light from streetlamps floods the night stopped only by the thinning tree leaves, then drips down on the street smothered by shadows. It is 3 am, and I still cannot get any sleep. I get up and walk across the room, sitting down by the table. Vague headache, sore muscles and irritated eyes have now passed through the body, and it almost feels like it creeps in my spirit. Yet my mind is racing from past regrets to future doubts and all in between, my heart beating with a force that hurts. I slide my hand over the tabletop were paper heaps reminding me of overdue deadlines and half-done projects ley. My self-illusion of organised chaos justifying this madness. Fingertips touch the cover of a book, turning my full attention to the latest obsession. I have pushed all my responsibilities aside to immerse myself in the books cryptic story and unveil its secret.

How my life started over
I was sitting in the park. Basking in the sunshine, watching diamonds sparkle on the pond. Even with all the beauty around me I was infinitely sad. I allowed myself to get so far into debt I had to sell my house. I am a paycheck away from living on the street. Maybe I could couch surf for a few months before that happened. Month after month of borrowing against one credit card to pay for another, just desperation. Just as I was wondering how it felt to drown under glowing diamonds, the shriveled old woman sat down next to me.

The Train Station
The Train Station It is a cold night in San Francisco. Our main character is waiting at the train station. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches a glimpse of an attractive woman. She has long brown hair, green eyes, and a mysterious aura to her. She sits close enough to him; he looks at her without trying to stare. Their eyes meet in an awkward exchange, but she doesn’t look away. She smiles at him. He is a bit shy, but he smiles back.

The bus ride.
“Next stop, Sunset Boulevard & Irving Street.” repeated the recorded voice, cutting through the low hum of morning talk and eager taxis shooting by. It always had sounded too good to be true, Luca thought. Anyone who chose to include “Sun” in the name of a place was asking for trouble. But then again you couldn’t fault them for avoiding the more honest option of “Fog Boulevard”.

The North Room
Today marks two years. Five seconds in through the nose. Seven seconds out through the mouth. Repeat 10 times. I hear the voice of my therapist in my head. Let’s do a grounding exercise. Pay attention to your senses starting from your toes all the way up to the top of your head.

We, The Enemy
To call this night cold would be kind, much unlike its frigid embrace. She had spent weeks learning everything she could about her surroundings, and now was the moment it would all come together. Though the warming idea of a fire and loving touch had crossed her mind more than once during her time here, she had nowhere to go and neither family nor friends that she could call on.
