Long Range Tarkov is the Best Way to Play the Game
(Intro) There’s about a thousand and one different ways to play and engage with Tarkov. But the best way, is any form of long ranged capability. Something about being distant from your target, completely unaware of your presence; with good positioning, timing, and some luck, a single bullet can end a fight before it even begins. Luckily, EFT facilitates the use of long ranged weaponry better than any other playstyle. With tons of weapons, attachments and maps that really lean into this gameplay, it feels the most unique and both easy and hard at the same time. There’s a lot that goes into effective ranged play, and while there is definitely a conversation to be had about the acquisition of some items which we’ll get into, as a whole, there aren’t many other games out there that deliver the same gratification Tarkov does when you take down a target from hundreds of meters away, with a single shot. Today, I wanted to go over ranged gameplay in EFT and why it’s my personal favorite way to play, and why everyone should engage with it more often.

(Intro) A lot of game companies are trying to sink their teeth into the extraction shooter genre. And a lot of them can’t seem to get it right. And there’s a good reason for that: the extraction genre isn’t meant to be something that you just make and ship out. There is a ton of considerations that need to be thought of well in advance if you want to have a game that looks, feels, and plays correctly. Over the years, as the rise of this genre has become more mainstream, different companies have tried their hand at making an extraction game that is both engaging and fun to play. But many of these attempts are marred from their very concept. People aren’t willing to take risks; playing it as safe as possible to try and broaden this niche market. There are tons of ways you can make a successful extraction game. And there are even more ways to screw it up so badly, the game won’t survive its initial launch. With everything that is currently happening with games like Marathon, where that game seemed to be doomed from the start, and inversely, games like Arc Raiders which seems very in tune with not only the genre itself but the audience that might play it, I wanted to go over some examples of games that either got it right or look to be getting it right that are still in development, and other games that never hit the mark, and were basically failures before they even released. I’m all for more companies trying to make more games in this genre, but there’s only one way to make these games; the right way.
