Living in Silence
Imagine for a moment, you ask your 2 year-old to say Apple or Mommy. Son, would you like some More Wah-Ter? Say Plee-ease. Now imagine that you won't hear him say these words until he is almost 5 years old. He is quiet and will often not engage in eye contact for fear of being spoken to and to have to reciprocate. Not even a simple Hello. How long had I waited for him to say Mommy or say that he loves me too.

Momma's Little Mermaid
She danced and played throughout the waves. The familiar sounds of currents hitting the rocks nearby brought a smile to her bright, little face. She flipped her tail up and down. In circles she swam round and round. The icy water brought her great joy. And she giggled as it enveloped her tiny body. She splashed and jumped with so much courage, it brought me pride and I waved.

Don't Raise Your Kids to Be D*cks
Parenting is difficult for anyone, but as parents, we must do all we can to raise our kids the best we can. They are our legacy and the future of the world. They will encompass all that we are in a tiny package, so for God’s sake, raise your kid’s not to be dicks to others.

5 Ways to Help Your Kids Develop Healthy Eating Habits
Kids! Some of the pickiest eaters I’ve ever met. Getting them to eat healthy can be tricky for sure. I don’t have my own but for over 10 years I’ve been a teacher, an aide, and/or a nanny and I’ve found myself looking over the shoulder of hundreds of different children as they eat during the day. I truly believe childhood sets the stage for our lives and that includes which eating habits we adopt. So how can you set your kids up for success rather than a lifetime of battling their weight and health?

Oh No! I'm an Uncle! What Now?
First thing first, the first time you find out you are going to be an uncle is a pot filled with mixed emotions and rotten tissues, milk bottles, and dare I say nappies with a little present in them. You instantly think you have a fair bit of responsibility now and you need to stop the swearing. I mean, I hardly ever swore in front of kids, but now I had to be sure my mouth was taped up at all times. Oh, how I was deeply wrong. I have two nephews and two nieces with another on the way, congrats bro. They are six, three, two and one. I love them, I honestly do, but what my opinions were when first finding out, that I will be an uncle have taken a full 180 degrees turn. Let me break it down to you without using words I would have used before.

The Anti-Crowd
While I believe we are all anti-something—anti-hate, anti-government, etc.—However, I’m here to talk about a different kind of anti-group. Anti-vaxxers and anti-formula people. I believe people have the right to do what they think is best for their child. However, they need to think about the repercussions on others.

Remembering the Small Memories
“Mommy! Mommy!” I screamed louder and louder. My heart was racing as I got up and ran for my bedroom door, my teddy bear Nicholas in my left arm. I raced through the kitchen and into the dining room as fast as I could where I saw my mother. Letters on the table surrounded her and she was writing in a small rectangular book and ripping out the pages. My eyes stung with tears behind them as I opened my mouth.

A Beautiful Life
It's funny the things they don't prepare you for when you're expecting a child. You have your lists all ready of all the things some book or magazine told you that you would need. Items to help you welcome your new bundle of joy into this world, all the items you'd need to care for yourself after welcoming this new bundle.

Today Is Tomorrow’s Yesterday
Today was one of those days. You know the ones you wish you could just redo? Today wasn't completely horrible, so to speak, but it was a pretty bad day. Between issues with my son's CF and his toddler tantrums, to receiving an extremely high power bill. This mom has reached her limit for the day.
