Somers High School Alumni Gather to Remember Beloved Gym Teacher
Back in 2006, longtime Somers Track Coach and Phys Ed Teacher Charles Gilberti lost a extended fight with cancer. He died at the age of 67 in Las Vegas. At the Lovell Street Bar and Grill, Somers alumni and colleagues came out to pay respects soon after. They did so in a manner befitting a Somers fixture that few ever addressed as Charles or Mr. Gilberti.

Suicides in a School Setting
In 2014, the Japanese government came out with statistics regarding its suicide rate in Japan. In the land of the rising sun, 250,000 people committed suicide in that one year. That is 70 suicides a day, on average. 874 of those deaths, according to the Japanese Police Department, were students. The age range of those students were 10-19 years old.

College, especially freshman year, can be the most fun part of life and the most stressful part of life. Freshman year, for many, is the first taste of the real world, and many are out on their own for the first time. Students come from all around to get a certain level of education. They will learn academics and vocational skills, but they will also take away life lessons from university. These young adults will learn social skills, independence, time management, and other things high school couldn't teach them. Freshman year of college is new and exciting, but it can also be extremely overwhelming. There are new responsibilities put on these kids, and they are on their own for the first time. Courting the Adult Learner
What adult learners need from traditional colleges and universities. Although I have a doctoral degree in education: curriculum and instruction, I decided that I wanted to get an Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. I had two criterion at the start of my search. I wanted a wholly online degree program. I wanted a Massachusetts state school (I am an adjunct professor), because I will would hopefully be eligible for a discount on tuition. A wholly online degree program for a Masters of Fine Arts in Creative Writing is not to be found in Massachusetts. Framingham State University came the closest but there were English requirements that were courses only available during the day and at the university.

Why I Decided to Take a Year Off
Among other things in high school, I was a band geek and an AP student. Not the valedictorian or even close, but I constantly pushed myself to take college classes and get high grades and high test scores. I joined Drumline and marched with the band, and did all of that while working a full-time job and having a full-time boyfriend. Needless to say, by the end of my senior year, I was exhausted.

How to Write the Perfect Essay
In order to become an excellent English writer, it's very important to have the structure in place if you want to write a good essay. Firstly, you are going to want to make sure that you start with a beginning paragraph known as the 'introduction.' With the introduction paragraph, you're going to set the tone in terms of telling the audience what the topic of your essay is along with some supporting sentences discussing the topic(s) that are going to be covered later in the body paragraph(s). Your introduction paragraph should be between three to four sentences total and you should also have a thesis sentence laying out the main purpose of your essay and what you hope to get across to the audience.
