The Fall - Not Your Average Covers Band
Introduction After seeing the Sex Pistols in 1976 Mark E. Smith formed The Fall. We lost Mark in 2018 to lung and kidney cancer, but he was the only constant in the band that featured some great members such as Brix Smith, Marks Riley and Radcliffe (who as The Shire Horses had their own irreverent covers band as well as being DJs on BBC Radio 6, and I may do a piece on them)

That'll Be The Day - David Essex's Musical Genesis
Introduction I think I was first introduced to David Essex as a despicable fairground worker and eventual megastar in the film pair "That'll Be The Day" and "Stardust". The first being set in the 1950s the second in the 1960s. I worked for three days on a fairground on Moor Park in Preston and was nothing like the Jim Maclaine in the film. You can read about it on Wikipedia here.

The Story Of Mad Alice Lane - A Dark Masterpiece by Peter Lawlor
Introduction Many years ago in an advert for Land Rover (which I have not yet found on Youtube), I heard a song that has stuck with me ever since. It is ghostly, eerie and atmospheric and has captured the attention of many listeners and viewers.

River Studios Open mic 23rd of February
A new venture for me over the last couple of months has been to run a monthly open mic at River Studios. A local studio to me with a performance space. I thought it would be a great idea to do a little write-up of these events and also share the photos that are taken from the evening. I've also recently created a Facebook group for the event, so feel free to check that out if you are interested. Before I go any further I'd also like to thank all the artists that have played so far in the first couple of events. It has taken me a while to get everything set up how I'd like it. Of course, when you do something new, it will always take a while to build it up into what you want it to be. Hopefully, in the next few months, we will see some great open mic nights at River Studios to add to the huge list of open mics in Southampton.

DaVinciBands Unleashes "Young Bands"
It is said that art comes in many forms. DaVinciBands illustrates that point with his 2023 debut, "Young Bands." DaVinciBands' artist name is an homage to the great, Leonardo da Vinci, in the sense that DaVinciBands sees himself as more than just a rapper, but as a true artist. "Young Bands" has the bravado and boasting omnipresent in Rap, but also has the hopeful, motivational lyricism prevalent in Hip-Hop; thus, demonstrating DaVinciBands' versatility, and lyrical and artistic prowess.

More Than A Song
Introduction I am probably going to get slated for this piece because I will probably miss lots of songs that people think that I should have included. When I first thought about writing this there were two songs on my mind that broke the mould of what should be expected from a single in the 1970s.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
Introduction This is just a light-hearted playlist that I thought about doing by listening to the first "Help/Warchild" album, below is the introductory text from the website, it was the Blur contribution that stimulated this playlist.
