Have you ever heard the term “home is where the heart is”? Of course you have. Maybe you did t hear it in those exact words, but someone spoke these words to you one way or another. For this past year I’ve been on a mission to make my own home in moving on my own and let me tell you something, it’s been quite the journey. Let me enlighten on what exactly I’m talking about.

Dear Vocal
Imagine this: It’s February of 2022 and at my Wednesday night bible study a friend sparks up a conversation about how she’s interested in writing children’s stories online after learning that certain sites like Amazon are willing to pay you to do so. Me being an aspiring writer I was currently searching for an outlet where I could stretch my writing muscles and put them to credible use. So this made me get online and start searching for sites where I could get paid for my written work online and what did I end up finding? Vocal.media and ever since I first made this discovery my life as a writer has been an amazing journey.

Sweets to the Sweet: A tribute letter to Tony Todd
“What do the good know other than what the bad teach them by their excesses?” - Tony Todd as the Candyman. I remember the first time I ever heard you speak those words when I was a kid. You traumatized the mess outta me for months and yet I was still obsessed with you and your movie titled Candyman and I had to see more. Dear Tony Todd, you passed away last week and the world of entertainment and your fans are grieving hard, especially me. So I wanted to write you this letter of gratitude thanking you for the good you brought to the world with your artistic expression.

Dear Ruby Lee
“You not gon’ run me crazy, I’m gon’ run YOU crazy” - Ruby Lee Spencer. That’s what you used to tell me, Rudy and Kindal on a daily basis, mama Ruby. This was just one of your countless famous quotes. Though you’re no longer among the living I know you’re looking down on me knowing how much I love you, but during this season of thanksgiving I want you to know how grateful I am for all that you have given me.

Dear Cookie & Papa
Dear Cookie and Papa, Of course your real names are Erma and Harry and you are my grandparents, but when all of your grandchildren were babies that’s what we heard you call each other. It’s been awhile since you both have been gone, but I am still grateful for the 25 years that I had you both in my life.
