What You Leave Behind

Think about this one

What You Leave Behind

There are things that cling like shadows,

Old voices that call your name,

Moments that refuse to loosen,

Even when the door stands open.

But the past is not your keeper,

It cannot claim what you become,

It is only what has been,

Not what you are still shaping.

To carry it is to grow heavy,

To breathe beneath a borrowed weight,

To walk while looking backward,

And lose what stands before you.

Let it fall where it belongs,

In the place where it was lived,

Not dragged into tomorrow,

Not carved into your worth.

Today is not an echo,

It is not a second chance of then,

It is something newly given,

Something waiting to be seen.

And if you stand within it fully,

Without the chains of what has gone,

You will find a clearer path,

And a life that answers back.
