The Poetic Diary of a College Student: Part One
Remember, these are the best days of your life
You have four hundred unread emails
and zero idea what building you need to be in.
Keep walking, keep walking, keep walking
upward
down.
These are the best days of your life.
Your life hasn't been that long, honestly.
I'm not sure if we're trying to tell you
that it will certainly get better than this
or that it actually won't.
Your tuition is due on the 5th.
Speaking about the 5th, don't forget
that the event is on the 5th!
Don't forget! Make sure to come!
Sorry, you're in the wrong place.
You're at South Campus, and
the event was at South-North-Eastern West.
You missed it.
Two more emails.
Personally, all I'm striving for today
is not to be the person who's phone
alarm disrupts the room with that ding,
ding, ding erupting through the class.
Four of us have the same alarm sound.
Everyone looks. Nobody really cares.
These are the
best
days of your life.
The smell of weed is either wafting from next
to me, behind me, or to the left of me.
Someone in this same room as me is
inches away from God right now.
Someone else is asleep in the front row
with their phone smack dab right
on the side of their
face.
