If Only

Have sympathies for others for some shall not ask

Only the resurgence of the spirit will guide the rest

Needed pain to build what stands before thee

Wear it with pride, like a blood smeared crest

---

For it was not to be decided by anyone but thee

The rot of all that came before left a mark unbreakable

Forever, would your prey have followed into the deepest sea

Bound by commitments that indeed were unbreakable

---

The power of the mightiest waves sent up by the lord almighty

Were what it took to crush one in your presence

Rooted in the vileness of past slights, always were your actions

Only some ever getting to know you, and your true essence

---

Go unto the world and hopefully you will find it all

But think not a second thought of what's been done

For even Samson and Delilah did eventually end their story

All good things only have such a short time in the sun

---

Memories will not fail the weary as they walk this world alone

Only so many times does the door to the darkness open to the light

From hells heart, once it was shrouded in the dead of it all

It was always doomed to return to the creatures of the night

---

Battles won, but none so heavy as those with you

To wage wars on your behalf, something I once would volunteer

Always knowing the price that one might pay for such a day in the sun

Lucky enough to had more than a few blessed days turn into many a year

---

Such words you spoke and then the truth would come later

Even when you're in the main act, does the story sometimes swerve

Hearing them was pure torture, but validation it was not to have lasted

"I could never love you the way that you deserve"

---

The third time was the death blow

For nothing again would ever feel so real

To say you'd never know the truth

You'd never know toward the end, of how I'd still feel

---

Such a mistaken sentiment

Brought by the unpaid debts of others

For it was an honor to pay the price, if only for those days

........The end.......
