Dealt Dirty

It's not always a good hand the world will deal you.

By Jason MortonPublished about 13 hours ago 1 min read

As once I learned, by the force of circumstance

Make no promises of which you haven't got total control

Sometimes, it's more than just a personal dance

And you may or may not know your roll

---

For a time may come when the world deals you a bad hand

And all the things you love can be taken too quick

Nothing you might do will make the best intentions land

And the outcome dealt to you may be enough to make you sick

---

But loss is a part of the story you're telling

You put yourself out into the world of man

And it won't do any good to try yelling

Before it goes bad, you do all that you can

---

No goodbyes offered, not when dealt by the devil

Only left with the reminders of your life

You hope that it changes, before buried with a shovel

Because that last dealt hand cut you like a knife
