Confront your Truth

Confront your Truth

I roam alone through this abandoned house,

Each room a relic of the lives I knew;

Dust drapes the frames where warmer light once touched,

Silence swells where once our laughter grew.

I hear the floorboards speak in brittle sighs,

As if they mourn the distance time has spun;

I fear the door that opens to goodbyes,

Yet linger where the past by is never done.

A bear appears, immense, yet makes no sound,

A Komodo dragon watches, calm, aware;

They circle close, but neither harms nor wounds,

Like truths I dread, yet know I must face.

Still I remain, afraid to leave this place,

And lose what time has sought to erase.
