Every night, at exactly 2:17 AM, the light in his small, broken room stayed on.
Ayaan sat on the edge of his old wooden chair, staring at a laptop that froze every few minutes.
The fan above him made more noise than wind, and the walls around him carried cracks deeper than his struggles.
This was the “before” version of him.
No one saw these nights.
They only saw him fail.
“Bro, just give up. This isn’t for you,” his friend once said casually.
Ayaan smiled that day… but something inside him quietly broke.
Still, he didn’t stop.
Every rejection email, every ignored message, every moment of self-doubt became fuel. While the world slept, he worked.
While others partied, he learned.
There were days he had no money for proper meals. Nights when his eyes burned from staring at the screen too long.
Moments when he questioned everything—
“Is it even worth it?”
But deep inside, a voice whispered,
“Keep going. No one sees it now… but one day they will.”
Years passed.
The room changed.
The life changed.
Now, Ayaan stood in front of a glass wall office, overlooking a city that once felt too big for his dreams.
His name was displayed on the door.
“Ayaan Malik – Founder & CEO.”
This was the “after” version of him.
People clapped when he entered rooms. They called him “lucky.” They asked for advice. They admired his success.
But no one asked about the nights at 2:17 AM.
No one saw the tears, the doubts, the silent battles.
One evening, after a long day, Ayaan sat alone in his office.
The city lights sparkled outside, but his mind drifted back to that small room.
He closed his eyes.
And suddenly… he saw him.
The old version.
Same broken chair. Same dim light. Same tired eyes—but full of hope.
Ayaan stood up slowly, as if walking into his own past.
“You made it,” the younger version said, barely smiling.
Ayaan looked at him… really looked at him.
The pain. The hunger. The determination.
“No,” Ayaan replied softly,
“You made it.”
The younger Ayaan shook his head.
“I almost quit so many times.”
“And yet, you didn’t,” the older version said.
Silence filled the room.
Then the younger one asked,
“Was it worth it?”
Ayaan took a deep breath, his eyes slightly wet.
“It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t fast. And it definitely wasn’t perfect…”
He paused, then smiled,
“But yes… it was worth it.”
The younger version leaned back, relief washing over his face.
“Do people finally believe in us?” he asked.
Ayaan gave a small laugh.
“They do now. But it doesn’t matter anymore.”
“Why?”
“Because we believed in ourselves… when no one else did.”
The room slowly faded.
Ayaan opened his eyes, back in his office.
But something had changed.
For the first time, he didn’t feel proud of his success.
He felt grateful for his struggle.
He picked up his phone and typed a message, not to investors, not to clients—but to himself.
“To the version of me who almost gave up…
Thank you for staying.”
Success is beautiful.
But what makes it powerful…
is the version of you that refused to quit before anyone noticed.
Because the world only celebrates the “after.”
But the real story…
is always in the “before.”
