You came back
It’s been 10 years
10 years since Us
Since our 2am text chats about our favorite characters in books
About who we are excited to become
After high school ends/
10 years since you filled my locker with boxes
Of Thin Mint cookies
Because they were my favorite/
10 years since we gave up
Since we took a break when things got confusing
When our feelings didnt match/
10 years ago today I sent you my last text
And I sent a new one, just now.
Cant wait to see if you respond/
You can come back
If you let yourself, if you are meant to.
Like flowers in the spring
It’s exciting to wait for the beauty to return when the weather breaks
And
Sometimes its even better than it was before

Tangled Quicksand
I reach for you through shifting ground, But every step pulls me deeper, Where echoes of anger coil around The whispered love I keep in secret. Your eyes are both anchor and abyss, A storm I cannot tame nor flee. The past and present intertwist, A future that refuses to be. I fight the pull of your memory, Yet find solace in the ache. Quicksand heart, wild and free, I sink willingly, yet awake. No bridge can span this fractured space, No word undo the tangled trace. Love and rage, a twisted dance, An impossible future caught in chance.

Elderly Woman Behind the Table in a Large Town
The glass of Absinthe sat before me. It’s quite amazing how despite such terror rendered upon their stones in the preceding decades, these streets still held the beauty I first read about as a girl. I never dreamed I’d set foot on these cobbles, at least not safely.
