The TV Turned On… Showing Something From Tomorrow — She Wasn’t Alone Inside Part 5

She thought she was trapped… until she realized others had been there longer.

By Dorothea Bautz-JohnPublished about 13 hours ago 2 min read

She could still see the room.

But it wasn’t real anymore.

Not the way it had been.

Elena stood inside the screen—

and everything felt… distant.

Muted.

Like she was watching the world through glass.

Her hands pressed against the surface.

Cold.

Unyielding.

No longer soft.

No longer moving.

“Let me out…”

Her voice echoed faintly.

But it didn’t reach.

Didn’t carry.

Didn’t matter.

Outside—

she saw herself.

The other version.

Standing in her place.

Breathing calmly.

Perfectly.

Alive.

Elena’s chest tightened.

“No…”

Her voice broke.

“That’s my life…”

But the other Elena didn’t react.

Didn’t hesitate.

She simply turned away.

Walking through the apartment.

Touching things.

Living things.

Becoming her.

Completely.

Elena pounded against the screen.

Her fists hitting the surface again and again.

But there was no sound.

No impact.

No change.

Only the reflection.

Only the separation.

Only the truth.

She wasn’t on the outside anymore.

She was part of the image.

A moment.

A frame.

Already captured.

Already finished.

Her breathing became uneven.

Shallow.

Panicked.

“I’m still here…”

The words felt weak.

Fading.

Like everything else.

And then—

something moved behind her.

Elena froze.

Her entire body locking instantly.

Her breath stopping.

Because she knew—

she wasn’t alone.

Slowly—

very slowly—

she turned.

The space behind her wasn’t empty.

Not anymore.

Shapes.

Dark.

Unclear.

Standing in the distance.

Watching.

Waiting.

More than one.

Many.

Her pulse pounded violently.

Her thoughts collapsing.

“No…”

A whisper.

A realization.

Too late.

One of them stepped forward.

Slow.

Dragging.

Unnatural.

And as it moved into the faint light—

Elena saw it clearly.

A face.

Human.

Familiar.

Terrified.

Just like hers.

It stopped a few steps away.

Close enough.

And in a voice that sounded like it hadn’t been used in a long time—

it spoke.

“You saw it too, didn’t you?”

Elena’s breath shattered.

Her chest tightening painfully.

“You tried to stop it.”

A pause.

A hollow, broken sound.

“That’s what we all did.”

Elena’s vision blurred.

Her mind unraveling.

“How long have you been here…?” she whispered.

The figure didn’t answer immediately.

Instead—

it slowly turned its head.

Looking past her.

Toward the screen.

Toward the world outside.

Toward the life she had just lost.

And quietly—

almost gently—

it said:

“Long enough to know…”

A pause.

A truth.

Heavy.

Final.

“They never go back.”
