Pirates and Mermaids

One day a mermaid saw a group of pirates scuba diving. She was interested and swam up to ask them what they were up to. They told the mermaid about how there was treasure under the surface. They held up some they had found and then the mermaid swam down to help them. She told them about how she enjoyed watching their sword fights and wanted to learn from them. They made a deal that if the mermaids swam down to find treasures for them that were long lost and could not be found even with scuba diving, that they would teach them sword fighting and share the treasure.

The deal was made and the mermaids gathered with swords. There was a bit of a learning curve with a teacher that has legs vs. the swords in the water, but the mermaids had a great time with the pirates and loved bringing treasures up to them. They drank and danced together, having the best of joyous swashbuckling good times! The mermaids showed the pirate crew the crafts they made from the seashells, sand dollars, and starfish from the shore. The pirates complimented their skill and had them make pirate hats and gloves.

The captain always had a parrot by his side squawking and repeating phrases he said, but he enjoyed the bird as his little buddy. They called him the parrot caption because of this. More mermaids helped the parrot pirates and were excited about the sea friends who were different than most other humans. They had more vigor and resilience than the usual ones the mermaids came across.

When the day came that the parrot pirates had to finally split the treasure found, they ran off and did not keep the rest of their promise. The mermaids became angry and suddenly everything about the pirates turned negative. The parrot on the pirate captain's shoulder no longer looked like a sweet pet, but more as if he enjoyed having a personal echo chamber on his shoulder. The compliments from them were all ridiculous butt kissing hot air. The mermaids then decided that pirates were grossing up their sea and any more that came across them, they would use their own sword fighting against them.

Another group of pirates soon enough came by the ladies to try and make another deal of help with them about diving for treasures. This time they would not hear of it, deciding to fight the newforming pirates. The new crew was nothing like the old one, but had a hard time gaining understanding with the mermaids. They tried to explain about their different motivations, but the mermaids still would question their trustworthiness.

The new pirate king still wanted to show their better allegiance to the mermaids, so they went after the other parrot pirate captain's treasure they gained from the mermaids to steal back. They released cannons on their ship, jumping away with all of the treasure for the mermaids. The parrot captain wanted revenge for this afterwards, waiting to build up a bigger and stronger crew.

After some time, the parrot captain came back to slaughter the new pirate crew and the mermaids. While this slaughter took place, the mermaids thought about how they should have just found new treasure with the new crew so that they didn't go after the malicious parrot pirate's treasure for them. One malicious group can destroy and turn entire communities against one another that could otherwise get along as well as sand to the sea. A giant massacre occurred where there could have been sharing of treasure and friends who both loved what wonders water can hold.
